Wedding Bells Blew is the twenty-ninth episode of Godzilla: The Series, and is the eighth episode of season 2.

Plot[]

The episode opens with two night watchmen at the New York Aquarium sheltering in the penguin house to get out of the summer heat. They are immediately attacked by the Sub-Zero Manta. H.E.A.T. is asked to investigate the attack, but the Manta strikes again at a food processing plant, so so they head there instead. The Manta is too fearsome a foe for them to face on their own, but Godzilla hears the struggle and rises to fight the Manta. H.E.A.T. then figures out that the Manta is attracted to colder temperatures, so they decide to use a local hockey rink to trap it, and lure it there with a refrigerated truck. They successfully get it into the stadium, and it goes into hibernation. When Anthony Hicks arrives to take it away, the stadium's generator blows out and the Manta awakens with Nick, Mendel Craven, and Monique Dupre trapped inside. In the light booth, Monique turns on the stadium's spotlights, and turns on the speakers to irritate the Manta, which causes it to flee. They follow it in a Military helicopter as it heads straight towards where Elsie Chapman's sister is getting married. Elsie and Randy Hernandez, who are attending, order the guests aboard the H.E.A.T. Seeker. Godzilla then arrives to fight the Manta, but when their breath abilities collide they form a storm. Elsie then uses a flare gun to cause the Manta to heat up and flee. Godzilla is then able to drag the Manta under and form a cyclone around it. With the threat neutralized, Elsie's sister is able to complete her wedding on the hull of the H.E.A.T. Seeker.

Trivia[]

  • Originally, the Sub-Zero Manta was going to be a giant bird called the "Bird of Prey", but since a number of other bird mutations exist in the series already, the creature was changed into a more unique animal like a Manta ray. However, in the Japanese dub, the Sub-Zero Manta is still referred to as the Bird of Prey.
  • Robert Forster guest stars in this episode as Elsie's father, Jack Chapman, and as a police officer.
