Website type Fan-site

The Godzilla 1998 Database ( was a fan-website designed as a database covering everything about the American Godzilla (mainly Godzilla 1998Zilla, and GTS).

The fan-website was probably founded around the year 1999, the same year when the source website,, that created the Godzilla fan-site was created.[2] During 2013, is a still active site, but the address to the database is now linked to another completely unrelated website.

The site also reported that a fan-fiction project of making Godzilla 2 a reality. An early fan-poster promoting the fan-fic film was also released on the website. The fan-film was to be made by AfterDuskStudios and was also given its own fan-trailer on December 13, 2009. The trailer seemed to indicate that the film was supposed to have been released in the winter of 2009/2010.[3] The project seems to have been shut down just like the website that announced it.

Messege board petition

On February 8, 2010, a user known as "joshuadallas" (Joshua Duncan) started a petition in an attempt to bring fans of the American Godzilla together and create a messege board website or forum (similar to JP Legacy) for the fans where they can meet and discuss topics related to the American Godzilla. On May 20, 2010, the founder made a post on facebook that he had started this petition.[4] A goal for the petition was to get 60-100 people to sign the petition, and so far only 57 people have signed the petition.[5] The reason for the low number might be because the petition is largely unknown to most fans.

The site seems to have been turned offline once again between 2012-2013 in a second offline season. It appears at this moment that the site will not come back, partly because the domain "" is up for sale[6] and the owner could not be contacted.

Plans for a possible restart

The founder (Joshua Duncan) and former owner of the site has recently been active and on May 31, 2013, stated that he does "have plans to bring it back".[7]

Database to be re-released in late 2013

On June 6, 2013, Joshua Duncan left the fans with this messege:

"Godzilla 1998 Database will be back very soon here is a list of what to expect..

- More High Quality Content

- Focus on quality than quantity

- Website will be slimmed down, leaner

- Re-making content, new Posters and stuff that looks official and not fan-made or amateurish. Which is a standard I try to maintain.

Possible end of the summer or early fall release."[8][9]
